Time For! Climate Change Emergency Response
Weāre still trying to figure out who designed this button (printed by Six Cent Press back in 2015) but weāre big fans of itās simplicity, that exclamation point where it really shouldnāt be, and the molten-hot card itās mounted on. š

Remember Philadelphia Chicken Man from Issue 01? Remember how I didnāt think I had any āpoultry-adjacentā work of my own to throw into the mix? Turns out I completely forgot about one of my first assignments from my undergrad (Fine Arts) at the University of Victoriaā¦
The class was Photography 101 and the assignment was to ātell a storyā through a series of photographs. The night before the project was due found me nervously waiting on some inspiration when it dawned on me that I could tell the story of the dinner Iād just finished.š”
I ran across the kitchen and pulled the remnants of my chicken wings out of the garbage, placed them individually on the shiny white stovetop, and proceeded to photograph them one by one. From there, I printed up the photos nice and big and shiny and headed off to class the next morning ready to tell my story.
Hereās a few shots from the seriesāat a much smaller sizeāto give you an idea of how it all came together. š
Turns out, viewing those larger-than-life glossy photos of gnarled bones was, um, more intense than expected. My ādocumentaryā was unanimously received as a āhorrorā story, with half the class assuming I was making an argument for veganism while the rest sat there in stunned silence š¶.
In the yearās since, the whole experience has served to remind me that even the most mundane stories can take a turn toward the exciting if you leave enough gaps for your audience to try and fill. š¤
